The Good Doctor episode 15 video: Dr. Alex Park’s debut and more

Who is Dr. Alex Park? He is a character played by Will Yun Lee who debuts in Monday night’s new episode of The Good Doctor, and you can see a first-look photo of him alongside Freddie Highmore (Dr. Shaun Murphy) below. It looks like there is some sort of fancy gala coming in this episode, which is probably going to be one of the biggest challenges that Shaun has faced to date. It is one thing for the character to be able to understand social situations when operating in the moment. It’s something different altogether for him to be in an environment where social skills actually matter more so than just about anything else.

Dr. Alex Park is an ex-cop who has found his way into medicine; what intrigues us about this character is that he may bring some of that insight and experience into this field. It makes him different than almost everyone else and there is something super exciting that comes along with that.

We know that Shaun Murphy has been tested by doctors on the show before, but he’s going to be in for a very different experience courtesy of Morgan. She challenges him in the same way that she does everyone else — in some ways, she is trying deliberately to break some of her other doctors in order to ensure that she gets a leg up on them. She knows that she is tough and good at what she does in some ways — she does lack some bedside manner but has come up with unique ways to mask that here and there.

In this preview, you can see Morgan specifically go at Shaun, challenging him for using his autism as a crutch. As you imagine, that is going to bring out a specific reaction from the character, and also from many of the show’s fans who don’t like what they hear. Morgan is an unlikable character but it’s also pretty darn clear that this was the intention from the start with her. Maybe we’re meant to like her more over time.
