The Walking Dead season 8: Andrew Lincoln’s goodbye to Chandler Riggs is amazing — and musical

Andrew Lincoln's goodbye

Out of everything we expected when it comes to Andrew Lincoln saying goodbye to his The Walking Dead co-star Chandler Riggs, we have to say that watching him sing a modified version of “Havana” by Camila Cabello was not altogether on our mind.

The video below comes via Entertainment Weekly, and it starts off with Lincoln joking that he is never going to have to say “Corallllll” ever again on the show. From there, things get a little bit more sentimental, but still humorous, as the actor performs his little song for Riggs at the piano.

If there was ever a testament to the relationship that the two men have formed working on the series over the years, this is it. This is far from what we expected when it comes to a goodbye but it’s another bit of evidence that when the cameras aren’t rolling, Riggs and Lincoln are really the same as everyone else — they are just people who are sharing a unique, crazy relationship with one another. They’ve developed a rather close friendship and as a result of that, have their own shorthand and way of communicating. There has to be a father-son dynamic that exists between the two of them even when they are not playing these characters just because Andrew has known Chanlder for the better part of his adult life.

We imagine that for Lincoln, it has to be extremely tough anytime someone from the original cast of the show leaves. You get to know these people and given that very few of these actors called Atlanta home before the start of the series, they’ve really formed their own little community. There will obviously be opportunities for Andrew and Chandler to see each other again, but it’s certainly not going to be the same as it once was. There will be many parts of it that are ultimately rather different.
