Law & Order: SVU season 19 episode 14 video: Peter Stone’s next case
While you are going to see Stone heated in the sneak preview below, though, it’s not actually going to be at the expense of Olivia. Instead, the character is rather unhappy with Cassidy after some of his actions on the stand end up causing a mistrial. Cassidy got too heated and effectively screwed up the case — which, in turn, starts to make Stone wonder why he decided to stay in New York City in the first place. He may have felt like there was some unfinished business there after the death of his father, but was that really enough for him? We envision Stone being a man in relative crisis for at least the next few weeks — what should add to some of the intrigue there is the simple fact that Stone is not the sort of person who is going to just open up about what he is going through. Whatever sort of struggles he may be having coming up are private ones. SVU does not offer up many opportunities to showcase one’s private life.
As for the relationship between Stone and Olivia, it at least does not appear to be anywhere near as testy as it was when the case of Barba was going on — not that this should be much of a surprise. No matter how they felt about each other during that case, these two are professionals who understand that there is no value that comes via working against each other. They have to figure out a way to work together in order to ensure that they can bring bad guys to justice.
