Poldark season 4: Gabriella Wilde on Caroline’s story to come
Gabriella Wilde, who is responsible for playing this character on the BBC series, recently spoke out about her upcoming role in a new video on the series’ official Twitter account. Take a look at some of what she has to say about some of her struggles below:
“It’s just totally different to last series. Before she was the new girl in town and having fun through meeting Dwight, he opens her eyes and her mind to other walks of life so she softens. I think she’s less naive. This series I think it gets quite heavy for her. She goes through a lot of different phases, Caroline, a lot of private moments of genuinely being quite frightened and vulnerable in it. She also goes quite manic and anxious and tries to throw herself into other things to distract herself.”
In the midst of some of these hard times, though, Wilde notes that there are also many different happy moments coming up — especially when it comes to the development of the relationship between Caroline, Ross, and Demelza:
“She forms this bond with Demelza and Ross [Aidan Turner], they become her family really … She suddenly has a real female friend in her life which is something I really noticed she doesn’t have in the last series.”

this relationship with Demelza could be mutually beneficial in so many ways, given that we don’t exactly think that Demelza has necessarily had that much in the way of female friendship over the course of the past season or two, either. These two could lean on each other more and establish more of a friendly community. We already know that the bond between Ross and Dwight Enys is very much there.
