The Originals season 5: Charles Michael Davis lands new series-regular gig!
According to a new report coming in right now via TVLine, Davis has been officially brought on board Younger season 5 over on TV Land, where he is playing the part of Zane Anders. If you watched the series at the end of season 4 you’re probably familiar with the role already — also, you probably saw this coming given that he was brought on board Empirical. Still, it’s nice to have the news be official.
For Davis, we figure that it has to be very much entertaining to take on a role that is far and away different from the one that he played on the CW series for so many years in Marcel. This is a chance to flex some different muscles in a world that is far more comedic and less steeped in darkness. We’re all for actors getting to constantly challenge themselves with some new things. Hopefully, this is also only the beginning of some other actors from The Originals landing some other gigs elsewhere. Hopefully, there are some other opportunities coming for Joseph Morgan, Phoebe Tonkin, Daniel Gillies, and everyone else who was a permanent part of this show for so many years.
The Originals final season will premiere on The CW later this spring. Given that the entire series has already filmed, there’s not so much to worry about when it comes to whether or not this new gig will conflict with anything else on the schedule. While we also understand that Marcel was far from a perfect character, we do hope that the final season does offer him up a chance at hope and a happier ending — preferably with Rebekah given that we enjoyed the two of them together.
