Can Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir get on Dancing with the Stars?

Tessa Virtue

Are Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir at the moment the most-popular ice dancers in the entire world? It absolutely feels that way. The pair have accumulated a number of Olympic medals and they’ve conquered just about everything that they possibly can in the field.

Is there even a reason to do Dancing with the Stars? Maybe if the two want to have a little bit of fun, sure; however, it feels like this is really a pipe-dream scenario at best for a number of different reasons.

For one, there’s the whole fax issue of it where producers would have to reach out to them early and them deal with getting visas for them and the like. That’s complicated, especially these days given some of the trouble that Bachelor Winter Games ran into here. Maybe if producers really want to make this happen they can figure out a way in which to do it. However, they are more likely to give this to some Americans from the Olympics. There are a ton of worthy contenders, including some in figure skating, and we imagine that they will get the call first and foremost.

Nonetheless, this doesn’t change our feeling that it would be nice to have some more international flair on Dancing with the Stars every now and then, especially since Canada doesn’t quite have the equivalent show. It’d also certainly be an interesting experiment, especially since Canada was actually able to vote on Dancing with the Stars season 25 … even if it was only by Facebook. You’d have to think that almost the entire country would rally behind them and it would be a huge advantage.

The new Dancing with the Stars cast should be unveiled a little bit later this spring; the season is starting in April, much later than it often does, largely because of American Idol taking up some space within the schedule after The Bachelor.
