Crazy Ex-Girlfriend season 4, if renewed, to be final season

Crazy Ex-Girlfriend season 4

While there is no guarantee that a Crazy Ex-Girlfriend season 4 is going to happen, there’s one important thing that you should now know: If it does, it’s going to mark the final season for the Rachel Bloom series. The show is going to get a chance to go out under its own accord if it does get another opportunity to come back — which we think that it will, especially with this advance news in mind.

Speaking per IndieWire, show executive producer Aline Brosh McKenna confirmed this news with the following message:

“We haven’t gotten picked up for Season 4. If we’re lucky enough to get a Season 4, that will be it for us. Season 4 will be our last season … We’re trying to kind of round out that journey. Rachel and I pitched this story in four chapters when we started working together. It was always a story about a woman’s descent and her rising up. And we’re excited to tell the back bit of that story.”

While making this announcement may not have been intentionally a way to help ensure that a season 4 happens, we do still think that it does produce this as an aftereffect. If The CW was to cancel the show at this point, the end result of that would probably be a chorus of EXTREMELY angry fans who felt as though it should’ve received a fitting end. The network knows that they can bring closure with one more season, and also promote it as such.

Our current view of the ratings

As reported recently, we do think that a Crazy Ex-Girlfriend season 4 is going to happen. The ratings at the moment are not necessarily off the charts, but for season 3 they were up versus season 2 in the live+same-day ratings. With The CW programming more shows for the upcoming season thanks to them adding Sunday nights, getting another 10-13 episodes for Crazy Ex-Girlfriend doesn’t necessarily seem like something that is all that hard to do.
