Adam Rippon hired by NBC as Olympics Correspondent
The network has reportedly hired Rippon to participate in the rest of their coverage of the games from Pyeongchang for the remainder of the Games there — rather than heading home, he’ll continue to be a face of US Olympics. It certainly helps that he’s also very entertaining.
One of the things that we know that NBC is really looking for when it comes to some of their Olympics correspondents at the moment is balance — they want to be able to bring some of that necessary expertise, but at the same time they also want people who have a certain degree of entertainment value and accessibility. You have to remember that the Olympics are probably the only time in four years that most people watch something like figure skating or downhill skiing. You want to get people on television in this time who are relatable carry with them a unique voice.
Even before performing at the Olympics Rippon was at the center of a big story regarding Vice-President Mike Pence, who attempted to claim that he was rooting for Rippon and every other Olympian taking part this year. (Pence in the past has taken a number of controversial stances in regards to LGBTQ rights.)

The Olympics should be fairly entertaining the rest of the way in general, especially since Leslie Jones is also going to be present to help dish out some of her own thoughts. As you may know, there are very few people out there as big of a fan of the Olympics as Jones is.
