Big Little Lies season 2 spoilers: Shailene Woodley, Laura Dern, Zoe Kravitz returning
This should not be even close to a surprise for anyone out there who closely watched the HBO series, given that all of these actors drew praise for their performances. The only concern that we ever had was one pertaining to schedules — trying to get incredibly busy people to all lock in to being available at the same exact time is often not altogether an easy feat.
Below, you can see a little more information in the way of season 2 teases, as released already by HBO.
Celeste (Nicole Kidman) – Reeling from her husband Perry’s death, Celeste is adrift, but determined to fight for her family and find the woman she once was.
Madeline (Reese Witherspoon) – Finding that good intentions don’t always yield good consequences, Madeline confronts the truth of Perry’s death, while coming to terms with her own marriage and traditional notions of family.
Jane (Woodley) – While processing Perry’s sudden death, Jane is trying to build a new life for herself and Ziggy.
Renata (Dern) – The epitome of control, Renata is now faced with new challenges in her marriage.
Bonnie (Kravitz) – Bonnie struggles with Perry’s death and is forced to face demons in her past.
The future of Bonnie is the part of Big Little Lies season 2 that merits the most attention. While Perry was a horrible person, this does not take away from the fact that she is responsible for his death. The feelings that come with wiping someone else off the face of the earth are not feelings that quickly go away. They will linger for some time and the writing of David E. Kelley should explore that — while also determining if it is possible for someone like Celeste to find happiness. After everything that she has gone through, doesn’t she deserve that?
As revealed recently by Kidman, Big Little Lies will be filming this spring. CarterMatt projects the premiere date to most likely be in early 2019, though this could fluctuate given that the network will also have on the docket the final six episodes of Game of Thrones as well as another True Detective.
