So You Think You Can Dance renewed for season 15 by Fox
“It’s incredible to make it to 15 seasons, which just speaks to the impact this program has had, not only on the world of dance, but also on our loyal fans and viewers, to whom we are most grateful.”
So You Think You Can Dance season 15 is slated to premiere at some point this summer, and the timing of the renewal effectively enables the series to have enough time to properly cast the show so that it can find the best dancers. Despite the back-to-basics approach and the return of Mary Murphy as a judge this past summer, the show did still decline to a 0.7 rating in the 18-49 demographic. We are worried almost every year at this point that it’s going to be the final So You Think You Can Dance season, but somehow the producers behind the scenes at the series find a way to keep churning out new episodes and appealing to just enough of the audience to stick around.
In general, we would also say that many of the So You Think You Can Dance alumni have a better track record than some others within reality TV competition. Many end up being on Dancing with the Stars, whereas several others find careers dancing on major music tours or in theater. There are also occasions where they end up getting into acting. Take, for example, Jeanine Mason being one of the new interns on Grey’s Anatomy this season. So You Think You Can Dance is a show that really reinforces hard work and that translates well to a wide array of other careers. That is one of the reasons why you see these contestants in other venues — they carry that work ethic with them.
