Outlander: Caitriona Balfe wins IFTA Award; what it means
The Irish Film and TV Academy Awards routinely recognize some of the best talent among Irish performers all over the world and this win is a tremendous honor for Balfe. It’s a chance for her to celebrate something from her home country and hopefully, it also propels her towards even more success in the future. As great as Outlander is — and as popular as it is with some critics — one of the things that it has long lacked is getting some large-scale awards recognition. We hope that this could be the time in which this starts to change. Balfe and the series itself have been nominated for Golden Globes in the past, but unfortunately we have not seen either party manage to take home a victory.
This award comes a few months before Emmy campaign season will start kicking into gear; hopefully, this is an indicator of good things that will be coming up! We do think that Balfe is charting towards her first-ever Emmy nomination. Whether or not the voters agree, though, is something that we’ll have to find out in the future. (Of course, the annual CarterMatt Emmy Preview series is coming your way this June.)

The actress is going to be appearing on the country’s version of The Late Late Show on RTE Friday. That’s exciting news for locals and we certainly hope that there will be a video of it online after it happens. If so, we’ll obviously have an article up all about it so that you can get a sense of what she talked about.

Would it be fantastic to get some Outlander season 4 news during the interview? Absolutely, but typically late-night appearances don’t dive altogether deep. After all, the vast majority of viewers probably are not diehard fans and would not exactly understand what is being talked about.
