Celebrity Big Brother episode 6 review: Do we root for Metta World Peace now?

Metta World Peace

Let’s start off this Celebrity Big Brother episode 6 review with an admission that we may be entering some sort of bizarre parallel / alternate universe in which the game suddenly makes zero sense and we find ourselves ultimately rooting for people we previously rooted against. If we hate people who want to quit regular Big Brother, do we root for someone who wanted to quit Celebrity Big Brother?

Our love of Metta World Peace holds no bounds — it also makes no sense. For example, there’s no love in our heart for the Lakers. We didn’t love Metta when he was playing as Ron Artest; maybe Metta is the alternate universe Ron Artest? The guy has no business being a threat in the game — he’s won zero competitions, threatened to quit the game about a billion times over the past week and a half, and also has no clue what show he’s on some of the time. He didn’t even know the network that broadcasted Big Brother: After Dark.

The best part of tonight’s episode came courtesy of Metta, who somehow decided to issue some sort of dark warning that he is now out for vengeance on people who wouldn’t let him quit the game. His inner monologue seems to be “because you’re forcing me to play this game I’m not going to destroy everyone.” Interesting train of thought.

Metta’s super-entertaining, and beyond that he does it without malice. That’s in pretty stark contrast to some others…

Brandi Glanville under the bus … HARD

This was not a good look for Brandi tonight talking about Keshia Knight Pulliam. Sure, we get the whole argument that she’s there with her kids and Keshia leaving to take care of her family hurt her game. How about this, Brandi — how about you stop your whining over it and just go make better alliances? How about playing a good social game? It seems to work out for her given that her #1 ally Ariadna Gutierrez is Head of Household, but we’re starting to get into a weird place with the women in this game. The first few episodes it felt like the women could dominate and be super-popular; now, Marissa Jaret Winokur and Ariadna are the only two who are reasonably likable, but we also don’t think that either one of them was all that great with how they’ve handled Shannon Elizabeth. All Shannon did was want to play the game!

What Shannon is feeling is a Big Brother classic — vilifying someone who did nothing wrong other than being in the wrong alliance at the wrong time.

CarterMatt’s Final Verdict

We do think that Celebrity Big Brother is starting to find itself. Omarosa is living up to her billing by sharing her take on the Donald Trump White house and we’re seeing at least some noteworthy discussion points. It’s probably not great we’re suddenly rooting for someone who has no business even still being in the game, but like we said — alternate universe. Maybe in covering Big Brother Canada rational thinking will start to prevail.
