Are you eager for The Librarians season 5 to happen at some point in the future? We know that we are, but we also recognize that there is no guarantee that it’ll happen.
However, we like to look for as many different hopes for a renewal as we possibly can, and that effectively brings us to what TNT seems to be doing now — issuing a new survey to get feedback from viewers as to their viewing habits when it comes to season 4. While there may not be any direct correlation between this and a season 5 renewal, we do think TNT getting a huge turnout on this is helpful. It shows just how engaged many of the fans are on social media and, in turn, what they will do in order to continue supporting the show.
After seeing something like this pop up and also the viewer reaction to season 4 in general, we are cautiously optimistic that there will be a season 5. With The Last Ship presumably ending this year and with Major Crimes coming off the air, we do think that TNT is going to need get some content from somewhere other than just putting on risky new shows. While they found a hit in Claws, we also saw Will quickly canceled after its own run last year. TNT needs programming and The Librarians is a solid contributor that can air at any point in the year. It also performs well via DVR machines and we do still think that there is some untapped potential here if more viewers just knew that the show existed. It’s not completely unheard of for shows to surge in popularity after a few years into their run — It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Shameless are both great examples of this happening.
The Librarians is not the only show at the moment that is leaving us hanging while we wait for a renewal — we’re also doing the same thing when it comes to Good Behavior. We’re more confident in The Librarians returning than we are it, but it would absolutely be great to see both back.
