The Fosters series finale filming winds down for Maia Mitchell, cast

Fosters series finale

Be prepared to start getting emotional: The Fosters series finale filming appears to be about done. Many of the cast members are wrapping up their five years on the show, and giving you a variety of views behind the curtain as a result of that. One of these said people is Maia Mitchell, who shared on Twitter Friday a wide array of behind-the-scenes picture to better showcase some of what went into making the show’s final days. It’s worthy of a few tears, but also some smiles of celebration: Five years is a long time to be doing any TV series, let alone one on cable when most shows only last a few years. They had a chance to tell a number of powerful, significant stories, and probably impacted many more lives than anyone realizes.

There is no doubt that filming the series finale is a goodbye given that the odds are not all that great that all of these people will be together in the same room again anytime soon. Yet, at the same time it’s not entirely a farewell for good for Mitchell or Cierra Ramirez — the two do have a spin-off coming up in the future all about Callie and Mariana, but there is no guarantee that it’s going to film on the same stage. While it’s been said that there will be some familiar faces from the original series who turn up, there is no clear indication as of yet as to who some of these faces will be. The only thing that we know with some confidence is that the odds are fairly high that we’ll be shocked up by at least a few things in the Fosters series finale itself.

There are still many episodes to air on Freeform this year before we get to the series finale, including one that is coming on Tuesday. (Be sure to head over here to get a CarterMatt preview for that right now.)

Let’s just hope that when The Fosters series finale does air, it serves as a rather-nice reminder for what matters the most with the series: Family. That should be the focus, and we really hope that it is.
