Star Trek: Discovery season 2 premiere date hopes for CBS All Access series
The good news here is fairly simple in that there will be a Star Trek: Discovery season 2. There is no reason to be altogether concerned over that. Yet, at the same time the bad news is that you’re going to be waiting for a while.
According to a piece via The Hollywood Reporter, it’s looking as though a Star Trek: Discovery season 2 isn’t going to air until we roll around to early 2019, with one of the biggest reasons for that being the lengthy period of time it takes in order for post-production to happen in the way that it really should. There are so many effects that need to be added in after the fact that most of these episodes take months to make even after filming is completed. That is one of the trade-offs that come with having one of the most beautiful iterations of Star Trek that we’ve seen to date.
We do hope that there is a long future still for Star Trek: Discovery, especially since this was such an ambitious project for CBS All Access and over the course of the season, they’ve proven why they needed to have it on the streaming service as opposed to CBS proper. With the budget of this show and the size of the Star Trek TV fandom, there was no feasible way in which they could financially support this show on the actual network. The subscription model really enables it to be possible; hopefully, viewers continue to subscribe whenever it comes back. That’s one of the bummers right now when it comes to CBS All Access and its fairly-limited offerings still; other than Celebrity Big Brother (which probably isn’t too much of the same audience), we’re not sure if there are many other reasons for Star Trek viewers to keep their subscriptions for now.
We would anticipate Star Trek: Discovery season 2 premiering at some point in January 2019, but we’ll offering up some more information down the road if that turns out to be the case.
