The Bachelor spoilers: The Lauren Burnham, Arie Luyendyk Jr. surprise
For the first few episodes, you wouldn’t have been able to separate this Lauren from the many other on the show — there were a sea of them and none of them were getting significant screen time. Yet, that started to change on this past episode and it seems as though another one-on-one date is coming Lauren’s direction Monday. Based on the episode synopsis below, Lauren’s issue seems to be mostly the same one that some other women have had over the years: Admitting to having feelings only to then worry about whether or not she mistimed it and let said feelings out a little bit too early:
Lauren B. hasn’t been able to conquer her nerves or allow herself to be total vulnerable, but that will need to change if she is to get a rose and a hometown date. Arie and Lauren B. ride bikes, shop and indulge in gelato in Lucca; but at dinner, the usually play-it-safe bachelorette shares her true feelings for the Bachelor, but his reaction surprises her. Did she share too much too soon?
Really, how much does this sort of stuff even matter? We don’t think it really does given that Lauren is in a position right now where she would really have to screw things up to not get a hometown date. Let’s look at the field. Arie seems overly concerned at this point about Bekah’s age (even though she’s not that much younger than some of his other suitors), he’s clearly intimidated by both Seinne and Jacqueline on some level, and Kendall is probably too quirky for him. Really, there are only three major contenders left in our mind: Lauren, Becca, and Tia. If you decide that Tia is a little bit too country for Arie (she’s the perfect Bachelorette), you can narrow the field down more.
The one thing we do find super-interesting about the new The Bachelor promo below (via People Magazine) is Arie vocalizing the fact that many of these women probably weren’t at casting secretly hoping that he would get the gig — it’s not a secret that most people expected to see Peter Kraus as the lead this time.
This episode in Tuscany will lead into the hometown dates, one of the best parts of the season mostly because it’s also one of the few times the producers struggle to control a little bit more of what happens.
