Is McMafia season 2 renewal possible after season 1 finale?
We would say, for now, not to count on it for many different reasons, with the biggest one being that McMafia was not really designed for the purpose of giving you more than just one season. This was a limited series and with that, the goal all along was to give you a single story to dive into before moving forward. That seems to be the plan for the time being.
Now, as for whether or not this plan stays that way forever….
One of the biggest things that you always have to consider when it comes to limited series these days is this: They are limited series until they’re not. That’s a rather stupid thing in one way to write out, but the basic meaning behind it is pretty simple: At a certain point in time a network may decide that a show is making too much money to end it and with that, they’ll develop an interest in bringing it back. That’s something that happened with Big Little Lies (especially with all of the awards attention it’s receiving) and that also seems to be happening with The Night Manager. If everyone wants to tell more of the story, and there is a means to tell a story after the finale (much of that may depend on Alex’s fate), we imagine that someone is going to find a way to try and keep things going.

There is also one other tangible solution that could be considered here, and that is the BBC just opting to find another great project for James Norton and some other cast members to appear in. That may actually be their best hope at capturing a larger audience. We know that Norton is more than capable of drawing a ton of viewers — just look at the success of Grantchester over the years.
If anything ever changes in regards to the future of McMafia, we’ll obviously let you know. For the time being, though, it’s best to refer to the finale as simply that — the end.
