Lydia McLaughlin leaving Real Housewives of Orange County (again)
In a new post on her official blog, Lydia (who returned to the show this past season after a pretty significant hiatus in between) did her part in order to explain why she is departing the series:
RHOC has given me a great platform and I’m grateful for that. However, I feel like I can only handle this show one season at a time. I need a break! There is a lot of good that comes from the show, but also a lot of negativity. After a family vote, it was unanimous that I should take a break. Sometimes the people who love us the most see things even we don’t see. I trust my path and I’m excited for what the future holds.
TOne of the things that is pretty obvious from the billion different shows in this franchise at this point is that it’s a heck of a lot of work in order to do. It films for incredibly long periods of time and beyond that, there are also some struggles that go along with it just when it comes to dealing with some of the other cast members. Also, there is another issue — dealing with the fans. The majority of them are nice, but every now and then you get someone who drops a giant bomb of negativity all over you and that makes it rather hard to recover from it. At the end of the day, it’s hard to deal with some of the criticism at times because the show is presenting you as a person. It’s a little bit different than an actor being told off for something terrible that their character did.
