Jersey Shore Family Vacation premiere date revealed; see new teaser (video)

For anyone wanting to know the Jersey Shore Family Vacation official premiere date, wait no further, because CarterMatt has the scoop! Today, MTV formally announced that the next season of their reunion reality show is going to come out on Thursday, April 5 at 8:00 p.m. Eastern time.

In watching the new trailer below, you can see a few little glimpses of what this new season is going to be like, including the return of many of the cast members to Miami, some silly hijinks, and of course a few signature Jersey Shore awkward moments. While many years have passed between this season and when the cast were last on TV, we don’t think that the intention here is going to be to try and craft some sort of different narrative. This is a nostalgia play if there ever was one. We just wonder how much drama the producers can really cultivate now. For starters, there’s going to be a lot less relationship drama — the majority of the cast members are now all in serious relationships and many of them have families. With that, we expect the series to pivot somewhat from what the cast used to do.

Will Jersey Shore Family Vacation really work? It’s still hard to say, but seeing Deena waving to people and yelling “Hi. we’re your new neighbors!” is the classic Jersey Shore that we have missed tremendously. We do understand why MTV wanted to do it — right now nostalgia and revivals are huge in the TV landscape — but beyond the first few episodes (which are sure to get big ratings) it’s hard to say what the numbers are going to be the rest of the way. We’ll give the network credit for being able to assemble most of the cast minus Sammi Giancola, who apparently didn’t want to do it. It’s mostly surprising because we remember how nasty things were at one point between Snooki and The Situation — there’s also the issue of some of The Situation’s legal woes, which could cause him to be unable to film some other seasons moving forward into the future.
