Will NCIS: New Orleans give another Percy, LaSalle moment before Shalita Grant exit?
If you did not hear, last week it was announced that Grant, (who plays Sonja Percy and has since the first season of the show) will be exiting at some point later this spring (most likely in March / early April). The circumstances surrounding her exit are not entirely clear other than that she wants to do new things; meanwhile, the circumstances surround the Percy character’s departure have also not been revealed. We’ve wondered if she could be heading back to the ATF, but in the end we suppose that the circumstances for the exit don’t matter as much as the fact that said exit is happening.
What would be worthwhile to know is this: Will Percy and Christopher LaSalle (Lucas Black) have another big moment before the end of the series? Should they?
CarterMatt feels that, (at least when it comes to the vantage point of fans) there is almost certainly going to be a demand that something within this vein happens. It would be silly to not consider a moment like this given that these two characters are passionate, loving, and seem to care about one another deeply. We’ve seen that in just about every possible way that you can. They may even be in a place to confront some of those feelings, given that both characters have been in a position as of late where there could be jealousy towards the other in terms of what is happening with their romantic lives.

Yet, there is an obvious issue with pairing the two characters up now — if Percy and LaSalle were to get together, why would she leave? She would be in a good position at work, and also having a partner both in the field and outside of work could be all she ever wanted. There would have to be a larger reason for her to leave, and it could be something that is heartbreaking to consider. This is in part what made the exit of Ziva such a challenge on NCIS given that the character didn’t leave Tony and the team because she wanted to; she did so because she felt she had to. We wouldn’t be surprised if the future of Percy and LaSalle plays out in a similar way. Maybe the two characters’ feelings are present for each other at the end of her arc, but were not in a full-blown romance and she just realizes that, for whatever reason, she has to say goodbye.
No matter how the departure happens, the one thing we’re confident in is this: It’s probably going to stink for longtime fans.
