The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon features This Is Us cast — briefly

This Is Us cast

The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon made a little bit of a detour tonight from its typical residence in New York City, but it was for good reason — to better celebrate the Super Bowl.

In addition to celebrating the big game, there was also a little bit of room in here for something different: A chance to talk a little bit about the episode … at least to a certain extent. There wasn’t THAT much spoiler talk about the episode itself, mostly because apparently Fallon didn’t want to give anything away.

One of the interesting things that did come out of this interview is that the producers were SO secretive about the content of the episode that there was a secret password around it (“marble”) and the script was put out on a specific type of red paper to avoid any photo-copying. We understand why after watching it, given that the death of Jack didn’t happen EXACTLY as we imagined. Not only that, but there was also that little twist with Tess from the future.

Here is what we don’t get about the interview — it lasted about five seconds. We’re exaggerating here, but not by all that much. For whatever reason Fallon decided that four separate segments from Justin Timberlake was more important. Did Mandy Moore even get to talk here?

The reason that we are bothered by the lack of screen time is because we watched The Tonight Show specifically for that and wanted something akin to a breakdown of some of what we saw. We recognize that the problem here is ours just as much as it was the show’s, given that we were projecting some of our own hopes for this interview on what The Tonight Show is, and it’s really not the sort of series to get all that deep.
