The Voice season 14 trailer features Kelly Clarkson, Blake Shelton, and country

Voice season 13 promo

NBC showed off their latest The Voice season 14 trailer during the Super Bowl on Sunday night, and if there’s a way that we would describe it, it would be this: Country. This was pretty much a love letter to country music, and also a reminder as to what sort of music almost ALWAYS tends to win this show. (Basically, if you are on this show the dream is to get paired with Blake Shelton — his fan base often tends to carry the day.)

Beyond the country-music theme, including the porch, the fields, and the random choirs who show up, there are a couple of different things about this trailer that are noteworthy.

1. The appearance of Kelly Clarkson – She is a coach for this season and we’ve got a good feeling that she’s going to fit right in. She and Blake are good friends and we feel like that rapport is probably going to carry over into whatever is coming up.

2. What’s with Adam’s mustache? – Was it a resolution for him to look a little more like Tom Selleck? He looks like he’s actually there to arrest somebody as opposed to singing a thing or two about country music.

Basically, this entire trailer is fun. It’s yet another reminder of what The Voice does best in some of its promotion material — celebrate the coaches and create a positive vibe around the show. Their previews are never going to give all that much away in terms of the contestants or the twists, but we do really wish that there were some twists in the format at some point after seeing the same exact thing for SO many seasons. There are a lot of past iterations that all blend together in our memory banks and we can’t tell you too many winners off the top of our head.
