Victoria season 2 episode 5 preview (PBS): Victoria, Albert’s getaway

Victoria season 2 episode 5

Tonight, Victoria over on PBS is serving effectively as the perfect Super Bowl counter-programming. The network has come to learn over time that the audience for their Masterpiece programming is not exactly the same as the audience for people who are checking out the big game. That offers them up some flexibility and they are more than fine to run with that as best as they possibly can.

Just in case you are interested regarding what lies ahead on Victoria season 2 episode 5, the official synopsis below makes that fairly clear:

Feeling suffocated by the weight of the crown, Victoria escapes with her court to the Scottish Highlands. She and Albert revel in the opportunity to be a normal husband and wife, but the holiday can’t last forever.

As for what’s going to be so interesting about this story, think of things in this form: We are going to be getting a proper chance to see Victoria’s recovery from the potato-famine struggle. While we know that the Queen has struggled with a number of different issues throughout her role, we figure that this has to be one of the most trying. This crisis forced her to struggle between doing what was right for England and right for her as a person. There may be many a lovely moment that comes courtesy of the retreat. Unfortunately, we just don’t think that this is eventually going to build towards an altogether-expected conclusion.

Beyond this journey up north there are only two episodes left this season — that alone is absolutely surprising in its own right. Who would’ve thought that we were this far along in the story already? Luckily, the finale coming up is going to be feature-length — when this first aired on ITV this past year, it did so in the form of a proper Christmas Special.
