Charlie Walk leaving The Four; Fox fires singing-show judge, music executive

Charlie Walk leaving

Fox is not messing around: Charlie Walk is officially done at The Four: Battle for StardomFox has fired the singing-show judge / music executive days after a report first broke about sexual misconduct with a former colleague.

You can read the original story here, and what this means for The Four moving forward is that the series is likely going to undergo quite a significant sea change. According to Deadline, Walk will appear on tomorrow night’s episode, as it has already been taped. However, he will not be present moving forward, including for the announcement of the winner.

Walk has yet to comment publicly on the reports of misconduct, but in the wake of his dismissal from the show may opt to release some sort of statement. (A second woman has also reportedly come forward with a series of accusations of her own.) Fox itself finds itself in a delicate position with this show — they most likely will look for a way to address the situation on air, but then also find a way to continue the show as planned. It’s difficult to strike the right tone there, but these people are professionals. More than likely, they will find the proper balance and figure this out.

Republic Records’ parent company of Universal has put Walk on indefinite leave while an investigation is underway.

So far this season The Four has been a consistent performer in Fox’s midseason lineup, It hasn’t been a smash hit in the ratings, but it has kept the majority of its audience throughout the season as viewers and has trended worldwide on Twitter for several of the weeks in which it has been on the air. Its future beyond this season still remains unclear but, in the event it is brought back, we imagine that someone else will be brought in to replace Walk. He has been featured on a panel this season alongside Meghan Trainor, Diddy, and DJ Khaled. Fergie serves as the show’s host.

We wish The Four the best moving forward, and in this Me Too era where women are finding their voice and men are losing their power to abuse and exploit, we applaud the network for making the right choice in this instance.
