This Is Us Super Bowl episode start time, title revealed
There are a couple of things that we’re confused about with this title, but one of the biggest ones is simply this: One year from now, this is going to be known as the episode featuring the Pearson house fire, which one way or another leads to the death of Jack. Whether it directly is the cause or not is something we still have to figure out. Why diminish that over the Super Bowl of all things? We understand that football is important to the Pearson family but still, it’s a strange choice. We would have just named this episode “The Fire” and be done with it.
Anyhow, the synopsis for the episode, short as it is, does make it clear that there is going to be a significant Super Bowl component to the story:
Randall hosts a Super Bowl party; Kevin and Kate reconnect with the past.
Nothing about the fire, though that’s not much of a surprise since it should be all over the previews.
As for the start time…
The episode is tentatively slated to begin at 10:15 p.m. Eastern time, though it could be either earlier or later depending on the direction of the game. You should be cautioned in advance to set your DVR, if you have one, for extra time — the more likely scenario is that the game runs over and you will need to give yourself a little more leeway.
This Is Us is banking on this episode being easily their most-watched ever, and it may have been even if it wasn’t after the big game given the subject matter that is being discussed here. The one thing that would be a worst-case scenario for the series is the event that the NFL game goes into overtime and runs extremely late, so much so that nobody wants to stay up to watch it. Even if the game is a blowout, we do still think that the audience will be there.
