The Flash season 4 episode 12: Who is Dwarfstar? Meet new villain

Dwarfstar

The Flash season 4 episode 12 on Tuesday night has a number of different priorities, but at the top of the list is bringing to you the new villain Dwarfstar. This is a character who should be familiar to some DC Comics readers, but the interpretation for the show is a little bit different than the version of the character you’ve come to know in the source material.

For starters, Dwarfstar in the comics is tied more to the character of The Atom — it’s a little ironic that he’s not being used as an adversary for Ray Palmer, but 1) It was a different version of the Atom who squared off with Dwarfstar in the comics and 2) The Flash has a history of using Atom villains. Remember Brie Larvin a.k.a. the Bug-Eyed Bandit from earlier on in the series run? There are only so many notable villains and with that, The Flash and other Arrow-verse shows really don’t have any problem dipping into the well of other comics.

The TV show Dwarfstar is a character with the capacity to shrink characters down to side, which is precisely what happens with both Cisco and Ralph. Hilarity inevitably ensues as a result of that. You get a small preview of this in a video below, and this episode certainly does feel a lot like last week’s when it comes to humor and tone.

What’s different here is that the case for Team Flash seems to have a direct connection to what is going on with Barry behind bars — it turns out that Goldberg’s character of Big Sir may be innocent, and Dwarfstar could in turn by tied into some of what’s going on with him. Therefore, stopping him is imperative. We don’t actually think that this is going to be all that difficult a thing for the team to do — this isn’t the sort of character who is meant to make you afraid for anyone’s life. Instead, the entire episode is probably meant more to just be a fun little romp with Cisco and Ralph shrunk down to size for a time.
