Is The Good Doctor episode 14 new tonight on ABC? Given some of the recent momentum for the ABC series, we absolutely do think that it makes some sense to want a little bit more of the series.
Unfortunately, we’re not going to be getting that tonight. The show starring Freddie Highmore is taking a one-week break, and come next week episode 14, entitled “She,” will be back on the air. It’s set to be a pretty powerful story of gender identity, and for Shaun Murphy what is important here is that it offers him up another opportunity to gain further wisdom and perspective. He is an individual who excels so much in one regard but has still so much other work still to do. This will be a test for him, and a compelling one to watch him take on. So what is the remainder of the season going to look like beyond this? For starters, there are only eighteen episodes in the first season so on the other side of “She” there is really not going to be all that much story left to tell. After this episode the Winter Olympics will arrive, which means in turn that The Good Doctor is going to embark on another hiatus. The series will go off the air until late February most likely, and should air out its final episodes this season by the end of March. There will probably be one more hiatus in there, largely due to The Bachelor: After the Final Rose.
Is the end of the series going to be coming your way in March? That’s highly unlikely. While there is no firm renewal as of yet for a season 2, all signs point to this largely being a sure thing. The Good Doctor remains incredibly popular with most of its viewers and its ratings have allowed it to be one of the biggest success stories that ABC has had with a new drama since, potentially, the arrival of How to Get Away with Murder onto the scene. (Consider this another reminder that ABC really has not had all that many scripted drama hits as of late.)
