Shameless season 10 certainly possible — as is more after that
Speaking per Entertainment Weekly, show executive producer Nancy Pimental made it clear that she’s happy to continue the show for as long as Showtime would like for them be around. She knows that for her, there is no specific end date set or plan for how the series is going to wrap up:
“I don’t know if we have an end game as far as, “Okay, we’re only going to do this amount of episodes or this amount of seasons.” We have end game ideas, like a couple little things, for once we know it’s the official end. We’re a bit more fly by the seat of our pants in letting the stories and characters kind of inform us of where they want to go. But we have a thought or two of where we want to go and who we feel like will have some sense of success and some sense of who will stay where they are.”
It feels as though at least two more seasons of Shameless are merited, largely because it could take Ian a significant chunk of time after tonight’s finale to get himself unspooled from the situation that he’s found himself in. Also, you can argue that there weren’t enough major revelations in tonight’s finale to be satisfying. We’ve seen so many jaw-droppers and big revelations over the years and, in contrast to that, this finale sort of tied things together without anywhere near the same sort of jaw-droppers that have been there in the past.

Ultimately, the future of Shameless does depend heavily on everyone out there who watches it. With that in mind, if you love it, it’s best for you to keep watching! You are the ones who control the series’ season 10 destiny more so than anyone else.
