McMafia episode 6: Who was shot in shocking conclusion?

We had a feeling that McMafia episode 6 was going to end in about as dramatic a way possible, and in the final five minutes the BBC series certainly delivered.

Basically, what we saw here was a situation in which the future of one of the series’ main characters in Rebecca was thrust into doubt, especially when it comes to her unborn child. We knew that a betrayal was coming, and that Alex could end up feeling the brunt of some of his past actions in a rather devastating manner. Still, we did not anticipate this in a billion years.

McMafia episode 6 ended on a cliffhanger, one in which Alex was arriving to the hospital, waiting to learn her fate one way or another. We figure that he’ll learn pretty soon when the next installment airs; even if she is alive, though, she may not be out of the woods for long. There are a number of other dangerous people that have been introduced to their world. Some of them may rear their ugly head and make a move soon enough and it doesn’t quite matter that this particular assailant was shot.

Now, what surprises us almost as much as Rebecca being shot itself is the reaction from some of the viewers to this news; after all, there seem to be some people preparing to dance atop her grave as though it is a great thing she’s almost gone. Even though we understand she wasn’t the most-popular character ever, does she really deserve that?

There are many people out there who have compared this series to Breaking Bad, and you could draw that comparison further when it comes to reactions towards Rebecca vs. some of the reactions towards Skyler White on that series. Basically, they are characters caught in a near-impossible position because of their husbands’ actions and they just have to try and find a way to make the best of the hand that they have been dealt. It’s going to be hard for Rebecca to do much here even if she survives; just remember that she and Alex were seemingly splitting for the time being even before this transpired.
