NCIS season 15 spoilers: Drew Carey poised to guest star
Carey is poised to be appearing in an early March episode of the long-running crime procedural, where he will take on the role of retired Marine Sergeant John Ross. It’s an interesting turn for the actor/host, who has dabbled in drama a little bit over the years. He has a few other connections to NCIS, as well — it airs on the same network as his game-show (CBS) and he has a history working with Pauley Perrette, who played his girlfriend ages ago on The Drew Carey Show. It’s nice that we’re getting to see this happen prior to Perrette’s departure from the show at the end of the season especially if we can get some screen time with these two together!
In a statement, NCIS showrunners George Schenck and Frank Cardea had the following to say:
“With the casting of John Ross, a retired Marine, we needed an actor who could play the outgoing, passionate side of the character but also the dark reality that he is still haunted from being a prisoner of war for many years … We are thrilled to have Drew Carey, who served in the Marine Reserves, as a Marine portray this complex role and look forward to fans seeing him in this powerful and heart-warming episode.”

One of the things that NCIS has excelled at over time is taking talented people and finding new, unexpected roles for them. A great example of this was getting to see Jon Cryer on the series as Dr. Cyril Taft after his role on Two and a Half Men for so many years. Given that NCIS is a series with a great roster of recurring characters, we like to think that it is also possible we will get a chance to see Carey stop by for another appearance at some point moving into the future.
We imagine that by the middle of February, there will be a little more in the way of insight regarding the show and Carey’s role. Stay tuned…
