Ink Master season 10 episode 5 preview: Steve Tefft, DJ Tambe go at it
Are we shocked by this? Not in the least. These are two very strong, very accomplished tattoo artists. As a matter of fact, we’d be shocked and/or disappointed in the event that the two parties weren’t on some level at each other’s throats. They’re just competitive! That’s just the nature of the beast this season but what we wonder is this — the two are going to be so preoccupied with targeting each other that Team Anthony could sneak through.
If you remember, one of Anthony’s big keys to success on his first season was not getting mixed up in all that much conflict; he let everyone else sink their own ship. If he can impart that onto his team, he may be able to get a lot of them to the end. Still, they don’t all have the same personality as him and that’s going to make it difficult.

Steve vs. Josh Payne
It also does seem as though we’re going to be seeing Josh go right at Steve, which is another reminder that this is a guy who will squabble with anyone who got in his way. Here’s the thing with Josh, though: He’s really good! Josh hasn’t been in serious danger yet this season. What’s scary is that he also hasn’t done a tattoo yet where he meets his true potential. If he starts to fire on all cylinders, everyone else this season should really watch out.
Based on where we are at the season we would say that Josh, Fame, and Juan are three of the artists destined to go really far. Juan on Team Anthony is the real darkhorse — he’s not getting a ton of screen time but we’ve really liked every single tattoo that he’s put out so far. You know who else didn’t get a ton of screen time at the start of his season? Anthony. What’s fun about this show is that anything can happen at any given moment. We had another reminder of that tonight with Matt’s exit.
