Waco episode 2 preview: Will you keep watching Paramount Network series?

Waco episode 2

Waco episode 2 is airing on the Paramount Network next week, and with that, we’re going to see how this retelling continues to build up steam. The premiere set the table; now, we’re going to see how the show interprets Jacob Vasquez and his journey trying to build his case.

You can get a little more insight into what’s coming via the Waco episode 2 synopsis that CarterMatt has for you below:

ATF agent Jacob Vasquez begins undercover surveillance on the Mount Carmel compound and befriends David Koresh in hopes of finding illegal weapons or other activity.

For the Paramount Network, we know that Waco is pretty essential. While they have Ink Master on the air already, the goal is getting quality programming out there right out of the gate. It serves as a means of establishing an identity right away (much like Spike did when it originally came on the scene). One of the things that Spike struggled with over time was creating and cultivating hit scripted content. Here, you’ve got a potentially-marquee series right away with a great cast — at the center of all of it is a true-crime story many people are familiar with. We grew up not that far from Waco, so we’re certainly familiar with it ourselves.

One of the things that we are interested in seeing play out is how Waco ultimately compares as the season goes along to another notorious true-crime adaptation in The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story. This show is not anywhere near as flashy, but it does have a great cast led by Taylor Kitsch and plenty of potential. What it needs more so than anything else is to continually generate publicity. In addition to Kitsch, one of the things the series has going for it is Melissa Benoist, who somehow found the time to do this in the midst of also doing Supergirl over on The CW.
