Law & Order: SVU season 19: A look towards the path ahead
Yet, we are tonight, at least to a certain extent given that there is no new episode. If you love SVU and re-watch episodes many times over, you can rejoice in the fact that there are some repeats coming on the air. Tonight there are opportunities to watch both “Contrapasso” and “No Good Reason” from earlier in the season again starting at 8:00 p.m. Eastern time. With that, you’ve got another reminder that NBC is committed to this show both now and in the long haul. They realize that even repeat airings of SVU have a knack for pulling in pretty good viewership.
Now, let’s speak a little bit more in terms of the long-term future. There are two episodes still coming up on January 31 and February 7 prior to the start of the Winter Olympics. On the other side of that, though, there will be a break that takes you through at least the couple of weeks that follow. That should offer up some opportunities for viewers out there to play a little bit of catch-up.
In terms of what is coming as we move further along in the season, one of the main events is getting a chance to see the debut of Philip Winchester as Peter Stone. We first heard this past fall that he would be guest-starring on the show, and to go along with that we know that he started filming not all that far in the past. His presence means some exciting things in terms of a key player to shake things up.
Beyond Stone’s arrival, the other major story to look forward to is the conclusion of whatever is happening with Benson and Dodds at the moment. While he was looking at possible replacements when she was on leave, is he continuing to do that now? Is this story really done? We have a hard time thinking that it is.
