Vikings season 5 episode 11 return date: When should it air?
For the time being, it’s easy to pinpoint a wide array of different possible return dates but the most reasonable expectation is that the History drama will return at some point in the summer. Based on where we are right now in production for season 6, this just feels like it makes the most sense. We’re in a little bit of a difficult situation than when season 4 ended early last year. Given that we do still have ten more episodes before the next season, there’s no reason to sit on them for too long. Our personal expectation would be to see the remaining ten season 5 episodes by August or so at the latest; that way, season 6 can premiere at some point in the late fall. Vikings is currently pretty far into production on the sixth season.
As for the future beyond season 6, the jury is still out on that. Maybe you can argue that there are hundreds more stories to tell in this era, but at a certain point the show won’t look anything close to what it once did. Eventually, some of your favorite characters are going to die and new faces would crop up — at that point, you may as well have a whole new show.

For the time being, know this: No one at History has confirmed that Vikings season 6 is set to be the end of the road. Until that happens, we’re going to go ahead and keep assuming that there is a chance we could get a little bit more of the series. We know that in terms of its ratings, there is no real reason for them to want to get rid of it since it’s performing well.
