Crock-Pot company sympathizes with heartbroken This Is Us fans

Crock-Pot

If there is one industry that we sympathized with going into Wednesday morning, it was those who make kitchen products. Specifically, slow-cookers in the wake of This Is Us seemingly starting a fire via Jack Pearson and a slow cooker.

One of the fun things that we’ve learned this morning is that like Jacuzzi and Band-Aid, Crock-Pot is actually a brand term; technically, not all slow-cookers are Crock-Pots. We also will give the Crock-Pot company for handling the whole Jack situation as well as they can. Let’s be honest — even though the fire was started by a faulty slow-cooker that was at least a couple of decades old, that doesn’t stop anyone on the internet from going and making comments to people about modern Crock-Pots today.

Here’s just one comment that the company left on Facebook to a fan heartbroken over Jack’s death in the wake of so many people (jokingly?) throwing out their Crock-Pots after the episode:

Jack Pearson was our Valentine so we equally understand your pain with his loss. We love him and we love you too ❤️. Don’t further add to our heartbreak by no longer using Crock-Pot® Slow Cookers, rest assured our products have been generationally tested by your family and friends.

For the record, we absolutely think that Crock-Pots are getting too much grief here since Jack easily could’ve just forgotten to turn off the stove or the oven. The only reason this was seemingly chosen was because it was the most innocuous way for the first to start where Jack couldn’t have really been too responsible for anything. Sure, he threw the dish rag a little too close to it, but this was just a fleeting accident and not some sort of act of negligence. He’d probably done that a few dozen times beforehand.

Also, kudos to the Crock-Pot company for the nice marketing with the “generationally tested” line — really brings it back to the show.

The upcoming Super Bowl episode will likely feature the fire and its aftermath — basically, NBC is throwing the gauntlet and trying to have one of the highest-rated episodes of the show ever. You can preview that more by clicking here.
