Outlander season 4 filming returns to familiar locale
We’re speaking here about Falkland, a village in Scotland that has been used back in the season 1 and has stood in for the city of Inverness. According to the Scotsman, some select locations in the city have been closed off so that work on the Starz drama can be completed. We’re hesitant to share too much more information when it comes to production, mostly out of fear of sharing too many spoilers or making it more difficult on the cast and crew to handle crowd control in the region.
Nonetheless, it is certainly interesting that there are some repeat locations being used, especially since Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitriona Balfe) are not exactly in a position right now where they would be revisiting Inverness in the near future. After all, they are off in North Carolina. Is this a sign that some other characters will be spending some time in Scotland in season 4? That seems like a definite possibility…

We imagine that for the cast and crew, being around Falkland has to be a rather-nice treat. It’s a lovely village, and one of many fantastic filming locations that the show has. There may also be a sense of fun that comes from being able to continuously explore different places. The last thing that you would ever want if you are either a viewer or cast/crew member is to feel as though you’re doing the same thing every day for months on end. With Outlander, that never happens and there are rarely any dull moments. The team has to be somewhat nomadic, roaming from once place to the next in order to ensure that they have some of the best possible locations. The scope, ambition, and budget of the show allow for these things … some shows without these sort of benefits could find themselves being situated in one place for months.
Outlander season 4 filming will continue for many more months, presumably well into the spring. The new batch of episodes will premiere later in 2018.
