Ink Master season 10 episode 3 video: Steve Tefft, DJ Tambe, Anthony Michaels face off
The theme for this face-off is proportion, which means that the Masters has to come up with something that not only looks beautiful, but also is realistic enough that you can imagine it in reality. Anthony Michaels, Steve Tefft, and DJ Tambe all face off, and by and large the three all do a really great job at this. The funniest part of the video below is seeing Anthony call a shot that DJ was going to draw something with a snake in it — the dude loves snakes! We saw that at the end of season 9 and we are absolutely 100% seeing it play out here as well.
Here’s our snap judgment on the three tattoos that come through at the end.
1. Steve Tefft – This one is genuinely cool. The proportions are there, it’s an original image, and the fact that it was done via freehand is all the more impressive. This is not something you really have a tendency to see.
2. Anthony Michaels – Despite being a former champion, Anthony commits here what is a little bit of a standard Ink Master faux pas — not actually following the rules of the challenge. He drew a really cool cat-like human figure, but the problem that comes in doing that is that he also put himself in a position where it was super-hard to judge proportion. How do you rate something that doesn’t exactly exist within reality? He painted himself into a real pickle here.
3. DJ Tambe – Finally, we close off here with DJ. He’s got that snake and, by and large, it looks good. This is probably between DJ and Steve, simply because it’s hard to see Anthony getting a ton of praise for not following the challenge.
