Outlander gets a little bit of Jeopardy love — see how!

Outlander season 4

Who knew we’d have a chance to write about Outlander and Jeopardy! tonight? There are few better ways to know you’ve made it than appearing on the syndication game show; can we say now, with that in mind, that the series is in the mainstream?

We should make it clear that the “answer” that was read on Jeopardy! today (see the image below via the show’s official Twitter account) was actually in reference to the Diana Gabaldon novel and not so much the Starz series directly. Nonetheless, you’ve probably heard the expression that what is good for the goose is also equally good for the gander. The promotion for the book helps the show just as the promotion for the show often helps out the books.

This Outlander cameo-of-sorts on the game show comes at a time when we do think that the series is at its peak popularity. We’re coming off of the highest-rated season ever, there is official merchandise ranging from clothing to branded wine, and there are talks underway to renew the show straight through season 6. While we’d love to see more awards-show attention towards the series, everything else for Outlander is coming up roses. Having Jeopardy! acknowledge you is just another fun little bit of recognition that you matter.

Also, it gives us all in the Outlander collective something else fun to discuss during what is bound to be a pretty long Droughtlander ahead. We’re in the midst of what we’re considering to be the longest stretch of time without a substantial update. Other than maybe some casting news here and there, we’d be shocked if there is all that much revealed between now and whenever the next teaser is released. Personally, we anticipate that coming at some point in the spring. Season 4 of Outlander will premiere at some point in 2018.

The next major achievement that the show should strive for when it comes to Jeopardy!? Think in terms of getting either Sam Heughan or Caitriona Balfe some love on the show.
