Shameless season 8 finale spoilers: The latest future for Emmy Rossum, cast

Shameless season 8 finale

When you look ahead to the Shameless season 8 finale airing on Showtime in just one week’s time, there is an interesting question to ponder over: What sort of future will the Gallagher family cultivate for themselves this time around? You get the sense, especially in late in the season, that characters often make big moves hoping that it will lead to a significant change in their lives. We’ve seen that in the past with both Frank and Fiona, though last year the death of Monica near the end really stalled out much of what some of the family could have done.

Below, the Shameless season 8 finale synopsis offers up a little more in the way of analysis as to what could be coming up:

Fiona taps deep into her Gallagher roots to get the homeless family out of her apartment and dismiss their lawsuit. An explosive incident sends Ian and some of his followers into hiding from the authorities. Meanwhile, Lip makes a difficult decision in order to have the life he really wants, Carl looks for a way to go back to school without upsetting Kassidi, Debbie considers letting Derek back into Franny’s life and Frank makes plans to take advantage of Liam’s rich friend. Season finale.

As for whether or not there is going to be a Shameless finale cliffhanger at the end of the season, you better believe that this could happen. Based on when a Shameless season 9 was ordered, you get the sense that the cast and crew knew that they would be coming back for another season. If there was even any doubt, the renewal probably would not have been announced when it was.

As for which one of these stories we’re most interested in, we have been surprisingly compelled by what’s going on with Fiona and the homeless family. Yet, we’re not sure how getting that lawsuit dismissed really moves the needle in terms of her overall story. With Frank, meanwhile, it feels pretty clear that he is going to try and figure out a way to make his own retirement and use one of Liam’s friends in order to do it. In his mind, it’s certainly better than working.
