McMafia episode 6 preview: Betrayal; Alex’s family in danger

Is McMafia episode 6 the installment where many of Alex’s worst fears come home to roost? We’re not sure that we can say that specifically, but signs do certainly seem to suggest that this is going to be one of the toughest installments for James Norton’s character to date. He’s lost some of his leverage, and with so many knowing about some of his various actions and operations, he is putting much of his family in a position where something terrible could happen to them.

Let’s face it — you knew that things were going to get worse before they were going to get better. That’s just one of those things that is firmly ingrained in the fabric of the show.

Below, the McMafia episode 6 synopsis offers a little bit more insight as to what is going to be coming up:

Found out by Vadim, Alex is convinced that his family is under threat.

It soon becomes clear that Alex’s concerns aren’t unfounded, as a surveillance operation against the Godman family does indeed appear to be underway. But Rebecca is unable to cope with Alex’s paranoid and remote behaviour, and a huge argument ensues.

Despite Alex organising armed protection, the reach of Vadim’s network is worse than Alex feared – and a shocking betrayal has devastating consequences.

Meanwhile Joseph turns to Alex in his efforts to help Lyudmilla, and Masha is dealt a cruel ultimatum.

The betrayal is probably the thing that Alex needs to worry about more so than anything else. You can prepare for what some of your adversaries are going to do. However, it’s a little bit different when it’s someone you cannot expect and prepare for. This could set the stage for what could be very much an epic home stretch for the season as Alex really faces the consequences of all of his actions. He’s been able to stay afloat for now, but he is absolutely nearing the end of that.
