Phillip Phillips on Hawaii Five-0? CBS viewers, American Idol fans surprised
Phillip Phillips is on Hawaii Five-0? Loyal viewers watching Hawaii Five-0 on Friday night probably can’t believe their eyes that this amazing singer now is seen with some serious acting skills. As American Idol fans will tell you, it’s not only great to see Phillips on primetime, but the dude is finding himself in a whole new role surprising many.
Playing a more sinister character, Phillips is the ex-partner of bad guy. He’s playing a character with a dark side that should delight those who don’t expect it. That’s right: Phillips is a diamond smuggler who is needed by the task force to track down batch of contraband. Who would have thought this young man who seemed so nice on reality TV could so easily turn for a sparkling batch of stones?
You might remember that Phillips won the eleventh season of American Idol. It was a tough and competitive year on the reality show, but somehow he managed to get the most votes and pulled out a surprise win! He treated the fans of the reality show with a performance of Home right after he was crowned the winner in Los Angeles. Arguably, he is one of the most popular American Idol winners since Kelly Clarkson, especially after Home became an anthem during NBC’s coverage of the Olympic Games.. Since then fans have been watching his career, but it’s hard to say if anyone ever thought he might get the acting bug.
Phillip Phillips hasn’t been dormant since winning American Idol. Quite the contrary. The singer and songwriter has been on the road working hard and pleasing fans. He’s put out new music, too. On January 19th there were new tour dates added to Philips’ calendar and Magnetic from his album Collateral just recently dropped.
On Friday’s show, the reminder will be there for fans of the singer to check out some of his music, if for whatever reason they haven’t recently. Hawaii Five-0 obviously has picked out the perfect bad guy (if only on TV) to make a strong impression for another great episode.
There have been a number of wonderful guests on Hawaii Five-0 over the past couple of seasons. Who can forget Carol Burnett, Jimmy Buffett or even Jon Lovitz? One of my favorites happens to be Duane ‘Dog’ Chapman when he helps the Five-0 on a case or just randomly shows up for an event. (Frankly, that’s never often enough as Dog is fun to watch.)
Every episode of Hawaii Five-0 seems to bring a new face while still having a familiar feeling to the fans. Add that there is never a dull moment in fighting crime on the islands, this sort of casting only leads to more positive vibes. This is a great night of Friday TV for everyone watching!
