Chicago Fire season 6: Is Severide’s future in doubt?

Severide

Is Taylor Kinney leaving Chicago Fire? While we don’t necessarily think that this is going to be the case, we do understand the worry based on the new season 6 episode 10 promo.

In this preview (which you can see in full below), the Severide character gets quite a tantalizing offer from an old family friend named Chief Grissom (played by Gary Cole) — and it may be too good of an offer for him to refuse. Kelly has an opportunity to do something a little bit different from what he’s doing now at Firehouse 51, and we would understand if he were to think about it. Severide doesn’t know he’s a popular TV character everyone wants to see stick around. In his mind, he’s just a firefighter doing what he can to save lives! If there’s another opportunity that is out there for him, one introduced to him by someone he trust, he has to think about it. We also wonder how much Casey’s own advancement at Firehouse 51 could matter since it’s hard to get too many promotions while staying at this same exact place.

The one thing that could definitely keep Kelly at Firehouse 51 more so than anything else is the fact that this is where his family is. Your firehouse family matters, especially when you spend so much time with them and go through as much as some of these people have gone through. You can rely on them and it helps to make you excited to go to work every single day.

We’ll probably get a chance to learn more about Severide’s future next week; for now, we do think that it would be a little strange/surprising to see an actor like Kinney leave in the middle of a season. For that reason, we’re going to be optimistic about his immediate future.
