Vikings season 5 episode 9 video: Heahmund professes loyalty to Lagertha
The new video that CarterMatt has for you below is effectively just a small slice of what you’re going to see in the upcoming story. Basically, within this scene you will see Heahmund describing himself as an “equal” to Katheryn Winnick’s character before claiming that he is “fascinated” by her and that there is a sense of urgency to the conversation that they are having. He is aware that there is another battle coming (Ivar is likely even more enraged then usual after losing his first battle and Heahmund), and he wants to be prepared for whatever is coming on the other side.
As a result of this, Heahmund makes is intentions fairly clear: He will die for her if that means being able to take on Ivar — or, at least this is what he is professing at the moment. We don’t think that there is necessarily any question as to whether or not we’re going to see Lagertha take him up on this offer, mostly because it makes the most sense given the position that she is. As for whether or not Heahmund carries with him some ulterior motives, well we suspect that he does have a plan of his own here. While Ivar and Heahmund never really had much of a connection, there was that scene where Ivar questioned if there is any man that is truly honorable and trustworthy to which Heahmund responded by saying that he was going to be the one to show Ivar that he is that man. Is this the game he’s playing with his allegiance to Lagertha or is he really done with Ivar?
It’s something that you need to have a certain awareness of if you are Lagertha and she’s shown herself time and time again to be the smartest person in the room. We do think that she is properly skeptical, but she knows how to play a long game and with patience comes answers. She should be able to figure Heahmund out at some point over the next episode or two and when she does he better hope that he is really aligned with her.

Ultimately, you should consider this episode to be rather essential when it comes to moving forward the main story towards what should be an epic, potentially catastrophic midseason finale for some characters. There have been teasers out there about this episode for a rather long time and we’re certainly hoping that it delivers in every way we could possibly hope.
