Chicago Med season 3 episode 8 preview: Dr. Reese returns from suspension

Sarah Reese

Chicago Med season 3 episode 8, entitled “Lemons and Lemonade,” is airing in one week’s time. There’s no need to beat around the bush as to what one of the biggest storylines is going to be here: Dr. Reese returning from her suspension. After the pepper spray incident we’re not surprised that she was sent away, but given that she was not fired, we assumed that the hospital wouldn’t want to keep her away for too long.

The thing that is so notable going into this upcoming episode, though, is that nobody at the hospital — including Dr. Charles, is altogether interested in keeping her on the shelf for a long period of time upon her return. She’s going to be thrown right back into the fire, mostly because of the fact that they need to know they can trust her now. If they can’t, they’re better off just letting her go. This is a huge test for Dr. Reese — if she pulls it off, there’s at least a chance things can return to “business as usual” for her.

Below, the Chicago Med season 3 episode 8 synopsis offers a little more insight into what’s coming:

01/23/2018 (10:01PM – 11:00PM) (Tuesday) : DR. CHOI FEELS HELPLESS WHEN A PATIENT REFUSES NECESSARY TREATMENT – Dr. Choi (Brian Tee) struggles to help a woman cope with anorexia. After a two-week suspension, Dr. Reese (Rachel DiPillo) is immediately put to the test upon her return by Dr. Charles (Oliver Pratt). Dr. Rhodes (Colin Donnell) takes a stand when one of his patients is forcibly transferred. Meanwhile, Dr. Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) is on a mission to get Dr. Manning’s (Torrey DeVitto) son to like him. S. Epatha Merkerson, Marlyne Barrett, Yaya DaCosta and Norma Kuhling also star. Eddie Jemison and Lorena Diaz guest star. TV-14

Aside from Dr. Reese’s return there is obviously quite a bit of other drama going on in the hospital, though Dr. Halstead and Dr. Manning’s story is the only one you can really talk about with excitement without context. This is a critical part of their relationship to address, and it really hasn’t been highlighted on the series as of yet. This feels like the right time to bring it into the fold.
