Black Lightning episode 2 preview: What’s next for Cress Williams, cast?

Black Lightning

Black Lightning episode 2 is coming on The CW in one week’s time, and just about every indication we’re getting at the moment seems to be one thing. Cress Williams and the rest of the cast will be back to take on more material, and there is one question that will be at the center of the show: Is Black Lightning the hero is back, what does that mean? Is the neighborhood safe again? Or, does the return of a hero mean the return of more monsters? There are some pretty sick people floating around out there and as a result of that, some of them may see Black Lightning back as some sort of a challenge to continue some of what they’ve done in the past.

If you look at the Black Lightning episode 2 synopsis below, you can get a few more details surrounding what is coming up:

IS HE BACK? – As the community struggles with the violence surrounding them, a glimmer of hope appears: Is Black Lightning (Cress Williams) back? Lynn Stewart (Christine Adams), noticing the changes in the community, is also left wondering. While Jefferson Pierce (Cress Williams) struggles with his decision, Gambi (James Remar) urges him to take up the mantle once more and return to life as Black Lightning. Anissa (Nafessa Williams) and Jennifer (China Anne McClain) try to deal with the aftermath of their jolting experience. Damon Gupton and Marvin Jones III also star. The episode was written by Salim Akil and directed by Oz Scott (#102). Original airdate 1/23/2018.

We do know as of late that there’s been a lot of talk about Black Lightning through the lens of whether or not it’s an Arrowverse show or where it stands in the midst of some other superhero shows out there. We don’t really think that this is the point of the series right now. Black Lightning is a good show because of what lies within it: A fascinating story with great characters and a vibe that is different from most others out there. It’s a great, singular expeirence, and for the time being the focus should really just be on that.
