911 season 2 official at Fox; Connie Britton – Angela Bassett series winning big
911 started things off this year a little under the radar, even in spite of coming from prolific producer Ryan Murphy and starring a fantastic cast including Connie Britton, Angela Bassett, and Peter Krause. While it’s been somewhat traditional in its approach to date, we imagine that over time we could see the writers coming up with some new ideas and ways to circumvent the formula in some exciting ways. That’s a part of what makes Murphy great as a producer — he always manages to divert expectations!
In a statement confirming the renewing, Fox’s own co-CEOs in Dana Walden and Gary Newman had the following to say:
“With a bold concept, award-winning stars and a flawless execution, Ryan, Brad [Falchuk] and Tim [Minear] have done it again … They have tapped into the cultural zeitgeist and reimagined the procedural as only they could, bringing it to life with a dream team of actors led by Angela, Peter and Connie. This is storytelling at its best and we’re so pleased that it’s resonated with our audience. We’d like to thank everyone involved with this production for their stellar work, and we look forward to another thrilling season of 9-1-1.”
The question that we’re wondering at the moment is just how many episodes the new 911 season will be, and beyond that also when it will premiere. Will Fox opt to make this a midseason entry once more, or is there another option that is worthwhile? We wouldn’t be shocked to see the second season air in the fall as a means to better stabilize the network’s lineup. So far, it’s already helping the network deal with the departure of Empire from now until later on in the spring.
