The Flash season 4: Keiynan Lonsdale heading to Legends of Tomorrow

Kid Flash -

For anyone out there who has been excited about the idea of Keiynan Lonsdale going from The Flash to Legends of Tomorrowwe come bearing some great news. You are going to see Wally West appearing in multiple season 3 episodes of the latter show! This is a chance to see the character in a different light, and hopefully it is going to be a fun one.

Wally is coming onto Legends of Tomorrow at a time in which the team could use some new blood. Victor Garber and Franz Drameh both recently left the CW series as Martin Stein and Jefferson Jackson; the Waverider is already getting an appearance from Matt Ryan as John Constantine, and to go along with that we also not have an opportunity to see Wally. It was always the idea for Legends of Tomorrow to have a cast that could evolve over time and it didn’t necessarily need to have the same characters the entire series. (With that being said, there are some characters who would be harder to lose — think Sara Lance, Ray Palmer, or Mick Rory, three of the other prominent cast members who were there back in the beginning.)

Speaking to ComicBook.com, Brandon Routh (Ray) talked a little bit about Wally’s appearance, and also responded about some of the concerns about Legends of Tomorrow simply replacing one minority character with another:

“I think for the most part, our writers are writing for us as a team and putting the team first, and if we can make poignant stories about cultural differences or religious differences, then we do, but if we can’t, then we are all working together on the team to solve history, which is I feel like a place that we can get to in the world, where we can understand that we all have differences but we can all talk person to person, human to human.”

We do think Wally is going to fit right in with the Legends however long he’s around, and we’re also just happy because he’s getting something great to do that he was not able to do on The Flash as of late. Unfortunately, he’s been mostly MIA on that show with Ralph Dibny showing up and taking some of the air time that was previously left for him. It’s not a perfect comparison per se; but you can still make that of the situation if you so chose.
