Prince Harry & Meghan Markle Lifetime movie coming, because of course it is

Lifetime -

In what has to be the TV news that almost everyone expected, it appears as though a Prince Harry & Meghan Markle Lifetime movie is going to be a thing. The network has never met a made-for-TV movie based on current events that they didn’t like, and it seems as though this is just the latest example of this.

The network has officially greenlit Harry & Meghan: The Royal Love Story, which will of course be about basically that. It will probably touch on their lives before the two got together, and then of course their relationship leading up to the big engagement that took place late last year.

This could certainly be one of the most meta TV movies in Lifetime history, mostly because you could have a TV show featuring someone who was working on another TV show. Meghan and Harry did spend a lot of time in Toronto, after all, where she was working on Suits. There’s a part of us that really wants to see if someone casts a version of Gabriel Macht or Patrick J. Adams just for kicks.

This Prince Harry & Meghan Markle Lifetime movie is going to have to rush things along when it comes to production. After all, the plan at the moment seems to be for this movie to air in May, likely before the wedding happens. What this means, in turn, is that the producers are going to have to cast someone pretty soon in both the Harry and Meghan roles.

One of the things that is arguably most interesting about the subject of such a project now is the simple fact that there is somewhat of a pedigree when it comes to the cast. Camilla Luddington played Kate Middleton on the Lifetime movie about her relationship with Prince William; now, she is a series regular on Grey’s Anatomy. These shows can be very much a launching pad for something more.
