Should Once Upon a Time have another Captain Swan sighting before finale?

Mrs. Carter: Should another Once Upon a Time – Captain Swan sighting be in the works by the end of the season?

When you think back to the entire history of the ABC drama, there are few relationships that have had this sort of broad impact. The Captain Swan pairing is in many ways a prime example of what the show is all about: People from different walks of life coming together and believing in something greater. Both of these characters have their own checkered past; yet, they have found something that they love within each other. They make each other better; they recognize each other’s imperfections and in many ways embrace them.

It was important that Hook and Emma have a happily-ever-after moment that was indicative of the sort of show this is. Of course, the downside of that is because of Jennifer Morrison’s departure, there isn’t really many opportunities to see what this happily-ever-after is going to look like for the two of them. Emma is expecting a baby with him, and they’ve got a lot to look forward to back in Storybrooke.

This, of course, brings us to another important question: When are we actually going to see this baby become a part of the story? Will they ever return? Much of that depends heavily on whether or not we see Hook or Emma as a part of Once Upon a Time again and there is no indication as to when or if that is going to happen.

What could a Captain Swan return be geared around?

That’s rather simple: Whether or not there is an eighth season of the show. If there isn’t and this turns out to be the final year, it’d be nice to have Morrison back for one more appearance, either during the finale or at some point before that. If there is another season, you can probably wait a little bit longer. If you’d asked us a month ago we would’ve said that this season is it for Once Upon a Time; yet, ABC head Channing Dungey seems happy with the DVR ratings and that could be a sign that a renewal is being considered.

No matter when it happened, bringing Hook and Emma back is essential before the end — it’s a reminder of what the show was and a nod to fans who’ve come to love the series based on their relationship.
