Grey’s Anatomy season 14 spoilers: Bethany Joy Lenz role revealed
According to TVLine, we’re going to see Lenz’s character of Jenny alongside Matthew Morrison for at least Thursday’s winter premiere, and it’s absolutely possible that this is a role that ends up lasting even beyond that into the immediate future. This Jenny character could prove to be essential to understanding the story of Paul and figuring out just how Jo is able to move forward from the crisis at hand.
Above all else, though, Jenny makes things complicated. Is Paul abusive to her, and if not, is she aware of how terrible his relationship was with his first wife? Does Jenny even know that the two are still married? In some ways, Paul will likely try and use his new fiancee as cover in the event that potential claims are fired in his direction, and she’s in a pretty terrible place. Even if she is unaware of her fiance’s past, learning that he has been abusive before is a pretty strong indicator that he, in fact, could prove to be abusive once again in the future. It’s definitely something that she needs to consider a possibility, even if she cannot see the forest through the trees.

We know that the arc for Morrison is going to last at least two episodes, based on some of the information that is out there. That may not be a lot of time if that is all the time we have, but hopefully in there you will have opportunities to see this story play out and understand the message. It’s not going to be an easy story to get through (we imagine it being super-emotional to watch), but it’s necessary in order for Jo to emerge on the other side. She has many things that she wants for her own future, with a relationship with Alex being among them.
